Andrea Mitchell
Andrea Mitchell is an American TV journalist anchor and anchor and commentator on NBC News based in Washington D.C. Following a childhood living in New York City, Mitchell earned a BA in English literature from The University of Pennsylvania. Mitchell joined KYW Radio and TV as the Philadelphia reporter in the year 1967. Mitchell joined CBS affiliate WDVM-TV (then WTOP) in Washington DC in 1976. In the following two years, she was hired by NBC News as a Washington correspondent. In 1981 began working for the White House and became chief of the congressional reporter in 1988. Mitchell became the chief White House reporter in 1992, and chief Foreign Affairs reporter for NBC News. Mitchell is a regular on the TV news show Meet the Press as a panelist and host. She served on an audience for the debates of 1988 between George Bush (then president) as well as Michael Dukakis. Mitchell got married to Alan Greenspan the former chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell has received numerous awards for journalism excellence, including her Goldsmith Career Award from John F. Kennedy School of Government in 2005. She was also honored with the Leonard Zeidenberg Award presented by the Radio-Television News Directors Association in 2004. Mitchell started covering the White House in 1981-1988, in both the Reagan presidency. Her reporting included a number of crucial stories such as the Iran-Contra controversy, budget and tax reform, as well as the issue of arms control. She traveled widely together with President Reagan during summits together with Mikhail Gorbachev.
